I purchased a computer off ibuypower that came with an ATI 5870 about a weeks ago. Well now that the 5970's our out I kind of feel jipped. So i'm going to sell the 5870 on ebay/craigslist and pick up the 5970. The question I have is will the 5970 fit in the same connectors that the 5870 came out of? the motherboard is a GIGABYTE GA-EX58-UD3R and I have a Corsair 850Watt PSU. I know it'll fit in length. Sorry if it's a dumb question. Also is their any good sites or advice on how to install graphic cards?

Solution
If your PSU has at least 1x 6pin and 1x 8(6+2)pin PCI-E connector, you will be fine. I am too lazy to look up your PSU, but corsair generally has those things covered.

How do you feel jipped? The 5970 is $624 and the 5870 is $399. I just ordered a 5870 because it will play all games at max settings, why pay almost an extra $250? Seems like you are throwing away money, but hey, if you got it then more power to you. Also, why buy a prebuilt computer if you really want the best?

I agree with Kasceis the 5870 is a great card and can always be crossfired, but i'm now considering the 5970 because it is now within budget due to a nice 200$ bonus from work :D

50fps is fine as long as the setting are set to run the game at it's most appealing setting with everything turned on. This is my first gaming rig by the way. What do you guys think of a time frame? 1 year? 2 years?

As long as ur not hoping for 50 fps in crysis 2 with all the eye candy on most likely at least a year, I know people that can still max out some new games with 8800gtx's and those are like 3 years old
