I have a gigabyte 890gpx motherboard with 2 pci-e slots.

I want to get a 5850 and use my gtx260 as physx. Is this possible?

Yes, sort of. There are some hacked physX drivers out there that will allow this. Games that require newer drivers won't work/well. You can keep the board and swap the 5850 out for another Nvidia card. That will work just fine.
