APPROXIMATE PURCHASE DATE: ASAP

BUDGET RANGE: ~$700 W/O Monitor or Video Card.

SYSTEM USAGE FROM MOST TO LEAST IMPORTANT: Gaming, Browsing

PARTS NOT REQUIRED: Monitor or GPU

PREFERRED WEBSITE(S) FOR PARTS: Newegg.ca, NCIX.com

COUNTRY OF ORIGIN: Newfoundland, Canada

PARTS PREFERENCES: See comments below.

OVERCLOCKING: Maybe, if I have to for my price range.

SLI OR CROSSFIRE: I don't plan on it, unless I can be convinced otherwise.

MONITOR RESOLUTION: Monitor Not Required

ADDITIONAL COMMENTS: I already have a HD 5850 ordered, so I need the rest of my system. I was thinking of using a core i5, but I don't know anything about bottlenecking. Also, I don't know; what PSU to get, difference between MoBos, or difference between DDR3 Dual-Channel RAM. I don't plan on Crossfiring, I'd rather a single gpu solution.

With all that in mind, I had this chosen;
-RAM, OCZ Obsidian 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800)

http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product...82E16820227495 (Is there any problem with that one? It's cheaper than the Ripjaws one, maybe there's a reason for that?)

-CPU and MoBo combo, Intel Core i5 and ASUS P7P55D LGA 1156 Intel P55 ATX

http://www.newegg.ca/Product/ComboDe...t=Combo.291937

-PSU, Antec EarthWatts EA650 650W Continuous Power ATX12V Ver.2.2 / EPS12V

http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product...82E16817371015

-HDD, Western Digital Caviar Black WD6401AALS 640GB 7200 RPM SATA 3.0Gb/s 3.5" Internal Hard Drive

http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product...82E16822136319

-Case, COOLER MASTER RC-690

http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product...82E16811119137

-CD/DVD Drive, Sony Optiarc 24X DVD/CD Rewritable Drive Black SATA Model

Would this all work together? I'm not great at choosing this stuff, any help?

Liar.

Only thing I would think about changing is the WD HDD for the samsung F3 500 or F3 1TB.

Well, I also prefer the looks of Antec cases and would get a 300 illusion instead, but thats cosmetic.

Hmm, for some reason the links didn't work correctly, but assuming that is the same RAM I was looking at, the problem is that it is very high latency RAM, which hurts performance quite a bit.

Athlon II X2 250 3.0GHz > GA-MA770T-UD3P > Sapphire ATI 4650 512MB DDR3 > 4GB OCZ Platinum 1600MHz@1066MHz > XP/Win7 Enter 64

True that CAS7 or CAS8 RAM around the same price would be better than that CAS9, though probably wont make a couple percent difference outside of benchmarking.

Yep, and that ram is really tempting (it is practically free after MIR and Combo), but the latency is why it is so cheap.

Is the PSU any good for the system?

Antec Earthwatts is a decent, economical power supply.

I heard there might be a problem with the power connector lengths, would it work with my case?

The RC 690 is midsize, not full tower so I doubt it. Usually its only a problem in full towers with a couple extra inches between the PSU and motherboard. If it is a problem, power extensions are pretty cheap and should be easy to get.
