Hey Forum,

First off I'd like to say I'm rather new to the forums so i'm not sure if this was posted in the right place.

Now on to my problem.

Recently I bought a new computer and I'd like to know if it's possible for me to transfer all of my old programs to the new one. The reason for this is that I have Kasperky, Sony Vegas Pro 10, and Microsoft word which I'd prefer not to have to buy again on my new computer. Are program files even able to be transferred? If so, how would one go about doing it?

Thanks!

No, you'll have to reinstall them. That doesn't always mean you have to buy new copies, though. Try reinstalling them all using whatever method you used the first time. If you run into problems try contacting the company.

its very complicated to manually transfer a program so to a novice the answer is NO you can not. dont bother with thoes programs that claim to be able to do this either, they rarely work.

you can often pull the product keys out of software and use them to reinstall off a disk on your new comp. magic jelly bean key finder is a great program for that task. you still need the program to reinstall tho.

if your comp was old your programs may be to old to work. be careful with sony vegas it has an issue with older versions (i forget wich ones) where it will remove the boot loader from windows 64. you need to go through a long process with the orignal disk and downloads from sony's website to update it enough to properly function on 64 bit. (took me all day to figure this one out for a client)

------------------------------ You are infected, you have to many Spartans in your computer. Get more Persians or buy a new computer. the choice is yours.
