Hi,
I'm at a loss. I have a pc running as a server(server 2003 std). I have just swapped out 2 x 1GB RAM chips with 2 x 2GB chips. The system indicates 3.9GB RAM, BIOS recognizes both RAM chips. The one chip was new, the second from my other pc. Motherboard is an Intel Q35 based board, DQ35JO.
The strange thing is that when I add the second chip, my display drops down to 640x480 resolution. I've mixed and matched the chips, run each chip on it's own in the system. The problem only appears when both (A) slots(slots 1 & 3 on the board) are occupied(haven't tried using the "B" slots). I've considered that it could be the second slot, but I didn't have issues with it when I had the 2 x 1GB chips installed. The CPUZ utility indicates the presence of both chips, with no anomalies that I can see.
Any thoughts?
