How to restore lost user xp

my computer was turned off without folowing the procedures.Somebody removed power cable when the computer was still on.
So when i swiched it on i couldn't see all the files that was in the desktop.But i can still see the lost file in C/ Document and seting.
What should i do to make my computer as it used to be?

Try booting into safe mode - Last known good configuration, or boot from Windows CD and Reapit-install

A temp user was created.
You could make a new user (admin, if U want) and just copy all of your old Desktop and your old My Documents to the new user.
Replace the new Desktop folder and the New My Documents folder with the old ones in C:\Documents and settings\ New_user name.
Or, you could also try a System restore to a previous date.
