Nov 13, 2009, 5:52 PM
On a new xp home installation, my hard drive is labeled h, not c. Its a new
build biotech mobo X2 6000, and new wd640. Neighbor suggested usb's
should be disconnected at install as they cause improper drive letter
designations. Any suggestions?

Your neighbor is mostly right. If you have a USB-based memory card reader, all of its slots are going to get letters before your hard drive. Disconnect it until you have XP up and running.
