I have vista and I have been reading the forums of Q&A, but I don't quite understand. I have had vista installed since it first came out and my ram usage has always been between 6 and 15 percent. over the last couple of weeks it went up to between 33 and 50 percent with nothing else running in background. I have between 50 and 56 processes and almost all are system. what can I do? I've read about the ready boost but my game play remains choppy and I have a total of 3 gig ram

You can disable superfetch, as it essentially saves into memory the programs that you use most often to boost performance in regard to load times and such. If you do not want that, then disable it.
