Hello fellow nerds. It's time to build a desktop again. I haven't built one in quite some time. I want this build to have insanely delicious visuals and great audio and am thinking about building it around the nvidia 295 video card and a sweet nice HD 22" and above monitor..

SYSTEM USAGE FROM MOST TO LEAST IMPORTANT: Gaming, watching movies/videos, art programs, web surfing,

PARTS PREFERENCES: Intel & Nvidia

MONITOR RESOLUTION:1920x1080

Looking for at least a quad core with and a good motherboard..

Also a great soundcard, and above average speakers.

My wife is an art major and plans on using it for some digital art, etc in the future. I plan on using it for some games, and to watch movies etc

I am looking to buy parts from newegg and every other place that has the best deals..

Need everything including new mouse/keyboard, etc!!

for the GPU i would say a HD 5870 but you said GTX 295 So if thats what you like buy it

The HD 5870 is on par with a GTX 295 give or take alittle, Depending on what game.

Now the GTX 295 is really 2 GPUs in 1 card, It uses more power to run it.

The HD 5870 is DX11 the GTX 295 is not

The HD 5870 cost 100 bucks cheeper

That mobo EP45-UD3P is a s775 mobo, it wont support the i5 750 i7 860 chips because they are s1156

So no

The mobo i linked is a grate mobo for the money, What do you need in a mobo that your not sure about the one i linked ?

Nothing really, just looking for the most bang for the buck for these products that I have been researching.. I have taken your video card recommendation into consideration and am leaning towards that one now.. however I am also looking at the AMD Phenom II X4 955 Black Edition 3.2GHz Socket AM3 125W Quad-Core Processor and ASUS M4A785TD-V EVO ATX AMD Motherboard in regards to the combination you listed? I don't mind spending a little more for a product if the value is worth it, and also don't mind scaling back on a product if the value is not there.

If you live by a microcenter the i5 750 is a steel @ 149.99

Not sure what art programs the wife uses, but if we can find out you can see the speed to each CPU thats if what she is doing is time senitive
