Dvd cd rom drive not detected

Hello. my dvd/cd rom drive isn't working but when i plug in my magic jack to the usb it's being recognized at the usb hub and as the dvd/CD rom Drive. I would think that my DVD/CD rom drive just went bad if it wasn't for the magic jack being recognized as the dvd/cd rom drive. and when i open the device manager without the magic jack plugged in the dvd/cd rom drive doesn't even show. I'm completely confused.
