Different amounts of ram in motherboard slots...

Hello,
i have a motherboard with 2 ram slots and i have 1gb ram installed on my motherboard....i want to add another 2gb ram in another slot and if i do so then will it be working fine or it will crash?????

Well, it might work. Probably will work... but it might also downsize the 2gb to 1gb... I guess it depends. I mean, if you stick a 1gb and 2gb in a single channel it might work ok but in dual channel, there could be issues.

Let's just say, no matter what it won't be working optimally. You should always try to put in the same size and speed RAM sticks.

Hi newcomer and welcome to the Tom's hardware forum.

Do need check 1st if ur mobo support the 2GB stick in the slot.
