Raid 0 with SSD or no?

I know the pros/cons of running raid 0 and really the only reason I want to is the awesome boot time and for battlefield 3 ;)

I have an ASRock H61M/U3S3 LGA 1155 Intel H61 HDMI SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 Micro ATX Intel Motherboard and I do not believe that it supports raid on a hardware level but I would like to double check that?

If it does not what are my alternatives to running a raid 0 array? Do i need a raid controller? Can I do it on a software level?

I have 2 Crucial M4 CT064M4SSD2CCA 2.5" 64GB SATA III SSD's.

I dont get why my mobo would have 2 SATA III connections and no raid?

Most SATA 3 SSD's will give u fast start up on anything. That's the best thing for fast launch. No RAID support for H61 I guess because it is entry level board.

  2. is software raid a viable option for me then?
  3. I know hardware based is the best, but I don't know about software RAID how reliable is it.

I am sure somebody will post right advice for u shortly : )

I don't think it will be much faster than your SATA3 SSD and u will not lose the TRIM support.
  4. well then i guess 120gigs of SSD speed would be better then 60gigs.

++i did some research and since software raid is ran by the OS you cant have software raid 0 as a boot drive. Thanks for the help. Guess a new mobo will be my first upgrade so i can get some cross fire sexiness as well.
