Lately I've been noticing some lag in my gaming and thought maybe it could be my ram. Before I've been satisfied with 1.5GB of ram (1x512MB, 1x1GB). Haven't seen much lag this bad since before I upgraded. I was thinking of doing another upgrade but I'm on a very tight budget. Under or around 50 dollars. Also, limitations are 2 dimms and pc2-6400. Is 2GB still okay? I don't run much programs. Just firefox, messengers, skype, garena, and Left 4 Dead. or maybe I was thinking of buying a 2GB stick to replace the 512mb to make a total of 3GB. which would be a better choice and if so any recommendations? Also, I don't want to spend too much because I'm planning on a new build early next year.

Other specs:
Windows 7 RC 64-bit
1.5GB Ram - PC2-6400 DDR3
Athlon 64 3800+ single core.
8800GS 384MB.

And it might be your CPU and it might be your video card also.

You have what is by today's standards a low spec computer. Put all your money to a new computer.

Win 7 alone uses at least 1GB.
I'd get the additional 2 GBs.

I agree with the 2GBs. With 3 it should be fine, and you'd also have a 2nd comp for LAN play after you get the next comp.

My advice is sell your current system for like $200 or so.....And buy a decent computer for around $600
