I'm planning to build a new desktop and planning to get the new AMD Phenom II X6 1090T.. but I can't seem to find a motherboard that allow to use this cpu, but support "TRIPLE CHANNEL" memory ram like Intel..
Does triple channel is ONLY FOR INTEL????
More about :amd support channel supported triple channel
The difference between running in dual channel and triple channel with ddr3 isn't just speed. It's the memory bandwidth too. For example, in dual channel you are running your mem at 128 bit bandwidth, in triple channel you are running your mem at 192 bit bandwidth. Basically your pushing more data thru the pipes in triple channel than in dual channel.
Ok, which means what? If gaming requires mostly a strong CPU to crunch data and a stronger GPU to render the pixels, how much memory do you need? Keep in mind that bandwidth is made up of not only the bit width, but the clock speed of the ram.
I am in school and were supposed to "build" a computer for $875. one of the requirements is to have triple channel memory. I believe that the only sockets that support at least triple channel are 1366 and 2011(quad channel) right? CPUs for these are limited and very expensive. any help would be appreciated.
