Ok, so what gives with the shortage of 5*** series cards right now? Were the 5970s even available for sale at all, I checked a day late on newegg, and saw the sold out, but that's the same for the 5850/5870s. Was anybody actually able to purchase a 5970?

The last card that I bought anywhere near launch date was a GF4Ti4600, so it's been awhile, are they having serious manufacturing problems, or is this normal for newly launched cards at the beginning of a life cycle??

i know as soon as i saw the 5970's bench reviews they had been sold out
same with the other 58XX, only ones in stock right now are the 5770 and 5750 but more people will look into older cards if they are going that route

Don't forget that not only hasn't Nvidia released anything new, they have EOL'd their old top end. It should be getting hard to find the GTX275, 280, and 285 as well. This means if you want a new powerful card, you HAVE to buy a 5xxx. Right now is a HORRIBLE time to upgrade your GPU cheaply.
