If you are using a stock cooler, no the paste is already on the heatsink. As far as the case, the cheapest case I can recommend is that one I did above that is $70, the one you pick may not have great airflow. No need to get a more expensive mobo for your uses but a better video card could be useful ONLY if you plan on upgrading your monitor. The card you have picked is overkill for it.

ok thanks i dont kow when im gonna upgrade my monitor but i figured i would fit what i could in my budget even though its overkill now. and i forgot to add your case and remove the one i had so as of now im going with that case. I will be most likely ordering it around thanksgiving. again thanks for your help so far sonic
