Good evening good people,
Have recently upgraded from a modem to a virginmedia 'Superhub'...the old Dell desktop is running xp but isn't wireless enabled so have to stick with wired connectivity...only trouble is, since installation, the 'Superhub' allows wireless connectivity for IPad, mobile etc but Ethernet connection for desktop throws up DHCP server not found & autoconfig' IP address 169.blah.blah is assigned!? Any suggestions for a fix? Many thanks in advance!!

so the wireless devices are getting ip addresses but not the computer with ethernet? Try a different ethernet cable and different connection on the router. make sure the tcp/ip settings for the ethernet adaptor are set to auto. you may also need to check the router settings and make sure it doesnt have some kind of setting blocking it from providing an ip address to the ethernet ports.
