Hello, all. My friend wants to build a gaming PC just out of the high end range. His budget is somewhere around $1000 USD, but probably willing to go over by a bit. I was posting in here a couple months ago about a future build of mine, when the i7 was the kitten's whiskers, but now that the i5 Lynnfield has come out, I sense things are different.
All suggestions are appreciated.

APPROXIMATE PURCHASE DATE: Two weeks from now.
BUDGET RANGE: ~$1K, possibly more, especially if there's good reason.
SYSTEM USAGE FROM MOST TO LEAST IMPORTANT: Gaming, Media, Internet, Coding
PARTS NOT REQUIRED: Keyboard/Mouse
PREFERRED WEBSITE(S) FOR PARTS: Anywhere, but Newegg/Fry's is preferable.
COUNTRY OF ORIGIN: No preference.
PARTS PREFERENCES: None.
OVERCLOCKING: No
SLI OR CROSSFIRE: No
MONITOR RESOLUTION: HD (1900x1080). I wouldn't worry too much about this one. He'll listen to recommendations, but he'll still need to see them up close before he buys.
ADDITIONAL COMMENTS: Quietness and a non-gaudy, plain case are appreciated. Think the Antec 300. That's more his style. Oh, and he'll probably go 64-bit, FYI, if that helps (mainly for RAM purposes I suppose).
