8800 gts help please

Ive just bought and revieved a evga 8800 gts . my pc boots and i have installed the correct drivers , but when i try and play any game my pc crashes. The fan doesnt seem to be moving.. Never a good sign.
I think this may be a power issue .
psu:
+3.3v 20a +5v 14a +12v 21a
Im using a 5 pin to 6 pin pcie conveter . I notice that the majority of the converters have 2 4pin slots , mine has only 1 . Could this be causing issues? THanks

the psu has 2 rails both at 21amps so it should be enough?
Cant find anywhere if only haveing 1 4 pin slot to 6 pin connecter will cause issues . I'd assume it does , and its so obvouis no one else has asked... but still ill ask .
