Can i put a 64 bit cpu in a dell inspiron 530

well???? i have a inspiron 530 and i want to put a--> Pentium 4 3.0GHz plga775 64bit sl7z9

it currently has a:

You have to make sure that not only is the CPU itself pin-compatible with whatever chip it's replacing, but that the BIOS also supports the new processor. Check Dell's web page to see what CPUs are supported by that system.

With the latest bios, your motherboard supports Core2 And Quad 775 processors, so with any of these, they are 64-bit.

i know that o have put a celeron dual core and a pentium d 945 3.2 gig in and get black screen so my mobo or chipset doesnt support multi core cpu's. can i change bios to accomodate these? currently bios is....

i looked at dell and i believe i have the inspiron 530 a but looking at mobo diagrams... any difference? sorry for ignorance but i have really only started tinkering w hardware updates and custom builds like 6 months so im limited in knowlege...

got core 2 duo 3.0 and machine is like a new machine. now looking for a good deal on phenom II 955-985 quad core for new build. im poor so it takes months for me to piece together something bot all i nee is some ddr3 ram up to 16 gigs and im in there... thanks
