wish I had cataloged my life at this point, but this my first time doing anything like this, posting things that I have built, or painted. so you'll jest half to trust me and wait to see how it turns out. you won't be disappointed, I really am pretty good at this sort of thing.

If your case is windowed, I would try to keep the color scheme of the painting (brushwork?) similar to the hardware, that could look very cool probably. I am a sucker for dragons or phoenixes myself. I always wanted to see a high quality version of this: http://i203.photobucket.com/albums/aa242/cc_68333/phoenix-1.jpg and it might be quite good on a case with a black/yellow or black/red scheme.

EDIT: Ah, you are the one going for those cobber wrapped tubes etc. In that case, I would probably go with something in the general steampunk colour scheme. Brown, cobber, grey, silver, brownish orange and red.
Perhaps something like this: http://www.clubchopper.com/forums/attachments/paint-tech/35777d1307064620-toss-up-couple-more-pieces-my-airbrushing-steampunk1.jpg
A steampunk dragon is also possible:

Google image search is your friend for all this :)

yes, I am the guy with the rads. to be honest when it comes to drawing, dragons are my strong spot. where as I can only draw the face of one girl that I knew way back when I was 14 years old, must have had to draw her face 5000+ times before I could actually get it to look like her. and that covers the totality of my face drawing ability. so I don't thank that I will be doing any faces for this one, but I like your dragons, that I can do.

no there will be no case window, this is the reason for the image being placed on the outside of the case. I thank that it will look nicer than a window, what do you think?

It depends. I really like to see the actual hardware, at least if the colors of it etc. fit together. But I know a lot of people think hardware looks silly and would rather that the case is just cool. It is also possible to have both of cause.
Here is a professional at work with the colors: http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_detailpage&v=iOoAA1KmmlY#t=567s There are a bunch of case build/water cooling stuff as well as some great case reviews on that channel by the way.

But airbrushing is a cool way to go as well, if I had skills in that direction myself, my current case would look a lot more interesting and dragon-ish
