Greetings,

Here is my specs:

Stock - Acer T-180 (2007) w/17" LCD monitor
Mobo: Foxconn EM61SM/EM61PM - (6A61KE11C-00)
CPU: AMD Athlon 64 3800+ Dual-core AM2 2.4GHz w/fan
Integrated Graphics: GeForce 6150SE 430
Memory: Crucial 2GB (PC2 5300) 4 x512MB
Hard drive: 160GB Hitachi Deskstar
PSU: FSP ATX-250PA
OS: Windows Vista Ultimate 32 bit

I'm trying to locate the BIOS version (Ro1-B3) for the above mobo. I looked on the Acer website, but couldn't locate this in-particular version. I'm going to upgrade to a 5400+ AMD AM2 CPU or better, but I'm sure I'll need to update the BIOS. I'm looking for a little more speed and do some light gaming. COD 6 MW2 plays alright with my current graphics, but I would like to see an improvement for what the cost will be.

This is the upgrades I had in mind:

* Mfr Part Number: ADO5400IAA5DO;ADO540BIAA5DO
* Process Type: AMD Athlon X2 Dual-Core 5400+
* Frequency: 2.8 GHz
* FSB: 2000MHz HT Speed
* Cache: 2x 512KB
* Process: 65nm SOI
* Socket: Socket AM2
* Power Consumption: 65 W
* Package: OEM - $48.00

Or maybe even a 5800+ if the wattage is compatible with my mobo. Will there be a noticeable difference in performance and speed with these chips?

SAPPHIRE 100295HDMI Radeon HD 4670 512MB 128-bit GDDR3 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP Ready CrossFireX Support Video Card - $70.00 w/rebate.

Antec NEO ECO 400C 400W Continuous Power ATX12V 2.3 / EPS12V 80 PLUS Certified Active PFC Power Supply - $49.00

COOLER MASTER R4-S8R-20AK-GP 80mm Case Fan - $5.00

$180.00 is the max budget.

Thanks in advance for any advice..

Thanks for the response and the step by step building tutorial. I was searching Google last night and couldn't find any free BIOS updates. The cheapest one I found was $12.95. tecmo, you didn't answer the rest of my question.

Does everyone just look at the messages at TH? I've noticed a message might get 200 views, but only one response. Why? I could really use the other members advice on my build. I'm a member too guys, and gals. 40 views and counting. Wow!

Richard...

Sorry you feel that way about leaving Tom's...

I missed the second part of your question since I went looking for a BIOS update. As for your other questions...

1) You will need to contact ACER to see if the board supports CPU. Being it an OEM PC, there isn't any good information on what CPU's it'll support. You CPU will be an upgrade though!

2) Your GPU & PSU will be good upgrades for the price over the stock PSU and on-board graphics.

Thanks for the reply and my apologies. It's appalling to see the members will only view my post and not offer a reply. This is the only tech site that has members that conduct themselves in this manner. Stand-up and be a man everyone, answer the questions, just don't look at them.

well don't be such an inconsiderate douche, not everyone wants to go out of their way and find something that can be googled for. So quit being such an asshole and be happy that someone was willing to help you, Jesus ******* Christ.
