Is This PSU Failure?

Hey Forum!

I just built an i7 PC, but it will not fully power up.

I plug it in, turn the switches, hit power...

-Fans whir, HDD's churn, lights blink but then...

*pewwwww* Powers down, OMG oh it turned itself back on!

-Fans whir, HDD's churn, lights blink but then...

*pewwwww* Powers down & it continues like this nonstop

It only stays on for less than 10 seconds... Is this PSU Failure?

  1. First, welcome to the forums.

I wouldn't suspect that PSU without checking some other things. Here's a good checklist to start, if it doesn't solve your problem report back what you tried: http://www.tomshardware.com/forum/261145-31-read-posting-boot-problems
  2. +1 what ekoostik said. The checklist is a very useful tool.

Sounds more that the BIOS is constantly rebooting. It could be something simple like one of the BIOS settings.
  3. Clear the BIOS. Your manual will tell you how. That may help.
