Hello, my first time asking a question(though I been around snooping before) and sorry if I am in the wrong section. My friend is going to give me his Intel E8400 cpu because I was bad need of an upgrade any thing better than my Athlon 64 3500+(2.2ghz) when I was gonna buy my own. So now I can save some time and money(since I am so cheap) . I would like to know the performance boost with the new CPU. I got around avg 20 fps on the heaven benchmark on 1440x900 Max setting and no AA, if I am not mistaken(forgot where the text file was saved). I am gamer, though I can handle low ugly settings on a game if I can get a decent fps. My current GPU is HIS 4670 IceQ 512mb and I plan to stay with a bit longer. I am going have to buy another mobo and some ram.
mobo - GIGABYTE GA-G31M-ES2L LGA 775 Intel G31 Micro ATX Intel Motherboard
ram - G.SKILL 2GB 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 800
cooler - ARCTIC COOLING Freezer 7 Pro Rev.2 92mm Fluid Dynamic CPU Cooler
I plan to get a cooler last and OC the cpu to 4ghz .

E8400 is a great choice for its price point and it is infact one of the largest selling CPU of Core 2 Duo family.
Radeon 4670 will give you good performance upto 1680x1050
Meaning, maximum settings in most games.

If you can get some more money, I suggest you to add 2 GB of more RAM, since it will increase performance in saome games
