Memory Voltage question.

Hi I just got a ddr3 1600 memory that has the setting of 9-9-9-24 1.8v.

My BIOS default setting is at 6-6-6-18 1.5v and is running the memory at a total of 900mhz

Can I just go into the BIOS and set the timing 9-9-9-24 and boost up my voltage to 1.8 from 1.5 without burning anything out?

What processor do u have?

The default voltage of ur RAM is a little high, set the RAM 9-9-9-24 @ 1.65 and see what happen. Test the rig with memtest86+ and prime95 for stability-

Do u have stability problems with that configuration? CL6 @1.5V. Because the settings that are in the BIOS are much better that the default setting of ur RAM.

Make sure that your voltage on ram is lower than 1.65 as the memory controller could burn out with higher voltage.

i have no stability problems but I stated above its running at 830something MHz. And I believe that 830something is the multiplied version. cuz my CPU-Z is reading one stick at 400 and the other stick at 400something. equaling 830something.

Enter to the BIOS and change the specs in the BIOS to the default of ur RAM BUT set the voltage to 1.65V.
