will the over all speed of 2k ram with 9 latency (9-9-9-24-2n or 9-9-9-27-2n) beat out 1600 with 7 latency (7-7-7-24-2n or 7-8-7-24-2n)

im guessing yes because latency is such a small amount compared to overall speed but wasn't sure.

Hi newcomer and welcome to the Tom's hardware forum.

No, between the 2K and 1600MHz don't exist any big difference more if u bear in mind that the CL is more high for the 2k RAM.

Go with 1600 CL6, CL7 or CL8 and don't wasted ur money in a 2K RAM.

thanks for the info

the g skill ripjaws 2k 9-9-9-27-2n are 199.00 and the g skill ripjaws 1600 8-8-8-24-2n are 180 so its only a 20 dollar increase

the tridents and pi's had slightly better numbers but im not sure if there going to interfere with the nh d14.
so i figured id just go with one of those 2 ripjaws they seam to be the shortest in height.

Yeah, the PI series can have some problems with the NH-D14 cooler, the Ripjaws are a very good series. Have very good timings and a good price.

I would go with this if u have an i7 that support tri-channel or with this for dual channel.

cool those where the exact ones i had next to the 2000 ones. y the hudge jump from 1333 to 1600 but not from 1600 to 2000 or is it just cause.

Like I say up, the difference between both 1600 and 2000 isn't big, but if u want 2000MHz, buy the 1600 and OC until 2000
