Forum Motherboards & Memory : Memory DDR3, Phenom II X4 955, and Latency

New build with AMD Phenom CPU and 4 GB Corsair CMX4GX3M2A1600C9 but one stick is bad so will be RMAing both sticks for replacement. In the meantime, I can get 4 GB Corsair CMX4GX3M2A1600C7 on sale at Frys. If I did so, would the slightly different latency be an issue when I eventually get the CMX4GX3M2A1600C9 replacement sticks? I'll eventually be running dual boot XP with Win7. I do quite a bit of video editing, rendering and file conversion. Will the 8 GB of slightly different latency memory be of any use? Or should I just get my defective memory replaced and not bother getting any additional memory in the meantime. Comments appreciated.

Hi newcomer and welcome to the Tom's hardware forum.

For ur requirements is better CL7, but be sure that are @ 1.65V max or u can have some problems with ur memory controller.

I realize it would be best to have the CL7 but I already have the CL9. Do you think the two types in different pairs of DIMM slots would be OK together?

Well, if u don't have yet the CL7 don't buy it because u could have some problems. Get the same specs that u already have.

Thanks, I'll live without my desktop for awhile. I have my netbook.
