I have an Acer ASpire 1720 wih a p4 w/ht 3.0 ghz cpu and windows 7. It came with a 3.4ghz cpu but I swithced it out. Now that I have a new 3.4 cpu, I want to take the 3.oghz cpu out.. Do I need to upgrade the bios for that or will it owrk fine with n the 3.4 (since it came with that one)??? :o

no you do not need to update the bios to take the processor but flashing the bios from time to time when a new one is released as they fix issues.

make sure removal all the old heatsink compound you use new heatsink compound like artic silver

I only flash when I have a specific problem that I can't fix otherwise. Just flashing a BIOS for the heck of it isn't exactly a great idea. Too much risk... too little reward.
