Isnt the DVI-D adapter only used for video?

I thought it was impossible to get audio via the graphic cards DVI port with a DVI-D adapter. I thought you needed a DVI-I adapter?

Look at the way you phrased your question:

My answer:

Yes (it is only possible to gain video through the DVI-D adapter).

There is no way to get audio if you are using a HDMI-to-DVI adapter or DVI-to-HDMI adapter. You can only get audio and video from the video card if you are connecting HDMI out to HDMI in.

My bad.

That's untrue though, I've used the HDSI HDMI DVI adepter, http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814999010

Gives you both audio and video.
