Cant delete partition when reinstalling windows xp without a disc

So trying to reinstall windows xp from the computer its self because i dont have a disk and when I tried it said to either delete or
Install over partition when I do it says it won't work correctly and I can't delete it can anyone help I don't know what to do I have a
Compaq presario 6016us
Running windows xp (32 bit) home edition
If anyone can help I would really appreciate it thank you

you cannot install WIndows xp without the installation files. they are either on the installation cd, or depending on your computer, in a hidden partition on the hard disk. when you first start your computer there may be an option to do a factory restore which will wipe your disk of the current installation of windows and restore it to the way it was from the factory.
