the dimensions of my old mobo is 12.0" x 9.6", but as i see all these new mobos dimensions are much smaller. like this gigabyte one is 9.6" x 7.6".

my motherboard is ATX and the gigabyte im looking at is Micro ATX. does all this stuff matter or the case can generally fit all mobos?

ATX and Micro ATX are generally interchangeable at least in an ATX case. Full ATX boards will not fit into Micro ATX cases of course. You posted everything except what case you have..........sort of hard to tell you what will fit that way :p

You only run into problems usually with odd form factors like BTX.

Well if it has an ATX board in it then you should have no problems replacing that with a Micro ATX board. Micro ATX boards just fit in smaller cases but also have fewer expansion slots.
