7800GT Help - Please.

You wont miss it, it looks very different than any other connector except for the cpu power connector (4pin). If there isn't one just get an adapter (two 4pin molex to 6pin). If the psu is good enough there should be no problems. Enjoy the upgrade.

And what if the card comes by itself with no packaging and no cable ?

Ok , I just epic facepalmed myself.

The "PCI-E" slot I was going to put my 7800GT in is actually an AGP slot.

That old 7300 LE was a AGP card.


After panicking, I realized I still have 2 PCI-E slots underneath. ONE OF which has my wireless card in it, I need that.

The other one, however, is my "wired" network card. If I only use wireless, do I still need it ?

If I already have a TP link wireless thing in a PCI slot, do I need the "Modem/fax" thingy in the PCI slot under it ?

I only use wireless net.

Ok, There, in tiny tiny writing, above the so called "AGP slot" it says, PCI EXPRESS 1x16 card.


EPIC FREAKING FACEPALM.


So the card should fit, crisis over. Next it's just the power plug deal and va-lah, good FPS in Combat Arms and Madden 07.

Feel free to talk about the power plug issue, how to install it maybe ?

and also the temps of my system, stable ?

With a 315w PSU do not be too surprised or upset if the 7800GT doesn't work or just beeps and doesn't come out of 2d mode.

I was told it was adequate.

Oh and I THINK it's a 350 PSU. Not 315. YOU said that, not me.



Regardless, 350W Ok for a 7800GT ? Or am I going to have to buy another Bloody thing for this card to work.

Wow, I apologise deeply for what I said - I was being an ass. I'm really sorry.

Anyway, I had a PSU failure, should have seen it coming really. Getting a new 550w PSU and I have this friend who's been a PC technician for about 15 years, and he's going to sort it out.


As for the forums that I mod - One is GamesOnly.org, a rather successful gaming forum, come check it out if you please. The other 3 don't exist anymore, some one merged into GamesOnly and the other 2 died.


I do actually have good computer knowledge, but when it comes to hardware, I just get confused.
