After days of snooping around I have settled on a possible system build and I was hoping I could have it checked before I go off and blow this kind of money on it.

I already have these parts which I'm bringing over from my old computer:
PSU: OCZ GameXStream 700 Watt
Graphics Card: e-GeForce 8800 GTS
HDD: Maxtor 6V300F0

And these are the parts I'm planning on picking up.

CPU: Intel i5 750
Motherboard: ASRock P55 Extreme

RAM: A-Data 240-pin DDR3

Total: $462.20

Thanks!

DirtMountain just gave you some good advice... that RAM may be OK to run at 1.85v, but an i5/i7 (referring to 1156 socket processors) is most definitely NOT going to be OK with that. 1.65 volts is the recommended max for memory on a P55 board.

If you're happy with the speed/timings of that memory at 1.65 volts, well I guess you'll be OK... but taking that into consideration, I'd say there are better memory kits out there for your application.

Also, how are you coming up with your total cost?

Ah thanks! I hadn't looked at that. I went though that article you posted and all of the more recommended ram seems to have gone up quite a bit.

After snooping around some more I found this:
G.SKILL Ripjaws Series 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600
They're 1.5v which is in the i5's range and the specs state that it will run with i5s and p55 motherboards. The reviews are mostly positive as well which is something I put a lot of faith into (I don't want to have to deal with constant RMAing).

As for the thing about my total cost. I'm just factoring the CPU, Motherboard, and RAM costs since I already have the other parts with me. That was the cost after taxes and what not. The new total cost with the G.Skill RAM is going to be $465.44.

Alright, I went ahead and swapped the rams out(hadn't seen that one). With a little combo manipulation I managed to come out with the same grand total of $465.44 which is great for me. I guess I'll be buying these then. Thanks for the help!
