Hello,

I am wanting to overclock my 1055t x6. my system is listed below. I have turned off 2 cores to reduce cooling as I want this to be a gaming rig so I did not need the 2 extra cores. Just installed a 212 evo for cooling and want to know some good settings to get a 3.8 Ghz overclock. I can go with a 3.5 if I must but 3.8 would be nice. What settings should I set things to? ( NB, HT LINK frequency etc as well as the voltages)

ok I went for it. I can get 3.497 on stock everything with the usual amd stuff turned off. Cool and Quiet etc etc. I am thinking I will have to up voltage etc if I want to go any higher. running prime now.

kcsmacker,

Enable your other 2 cores for goodness sake, you're crippling your damn processor!

Having the 960t unlocked to an X6 1600t myself, and also with the 212 Evo myself, I have the 1600 oc'd to 3.8Ghz and it sits at 50DegC under prime 95 for 15 minutes. (ambient 18DegC)

Set FSB to 200,
NB multiplier to x11
CPU multiplier to X18

That should give you a nice cool and quiet overclock.

Unsure of voltage, try the above at stock. If unstable, increase at the smallest incriments your mobo bios allows. (To within V limits as dictated by the CPU's max V core)

I will try this however what do the 2 other cores do? All game currently only use up to about 4 cores...

In multithreaded games- like BF3, 960T went from 30fps to 40-45fps as a 1600!

Not to mention encoding videos/DVD's, any decent converter will be multithreaded and will pwn on 6 cores.

And I daresay, thanks to FX series processors game producers will be releasing more multithreaded games like BF3 to avoid being avoided by AMD users!

OK well I strictly use games on this rig and most of what I play uses 4 cores or less. I get a 10-15 degree C drop in temps, so if I can get 4.2 vs 3.8 I may do that. With 4 cores at 3.5 I am getting 45-48. I am not sure, maybe I applied to much Thermal paste because at full 6 cores on stock i was at 50 degrees...
