APPROXIMATE PURCHASE DATE: next week

BUDGET RANGE: $400-$500 before rebates

SYSTEM USAGE FROM MOST TO LEAST IMPORTANT: mostly web surfing. occasional Photoshop, VMWare, VirtualBox, video editing, old games (Starcraft, BF1942, etc.)

PARTS NOT REQUIRED: keyboard, mouse, monitor, speakers, OS

PREFERRED WEBSITE(S) FOR PARTS: newegg, mwave
PARTS PREFERENCES: AMD cpu, Gigabyte/ASUS/MSI mobo

OVERCLOCKING: probably not
SLI OR CROSSFIRE: no

MONITOR RESOLUTION: 1920x1200

ADDITIONAL COMMENTS: I want something quiet. I plan to upgrade the cpu and memory in about 18 months, so having a good upgrade path is important.

From the research I've done, this is probably the best cpu for me.

I just grabbed one of the cheapest HD at the start of the build and forgot about it. That is a better harddrive.
