Memory confusion

Firstly, what is the difference between SODIMM rams and value select rams?

Secondly, for a core i5 build,which is better value for money:

1.4 gb Corsair ddr3 value select
2.4 gb Corsair ddr3 xms 3
3.4 gb Corsair ddr3 dominator ?????

I want to do enthusiast gaming with a hd 5850, so reply accordingly!

Hi newcomer and welcome to the Tom's hardware forum.

SODIMM: It's for laptops.
Value selected rams: It's the most used by manufacturer like DELL, HP or Gateway and usually aren't for high performance.

The best RAM depends of ur budget and the specs of the RAM. The dominator are very good, but like I say all depends of the specs.

What are the specs? or post the links of the RAMs, with that is more easy for me give to u an advice.
