P4M800PRO-M478 RAM PROBLEM ON XP

I have a problem with my elite p4m800pro-m478 board in that I have two sticks of 1 gb but the board tells windows that I have two sticks of 512mb RAM SAID RAM is DDR2 533

Did you have a look in the bios about the memory installed in each bank and the total amount of ram?

Also try using CPU Z to see the amount of installed memory,if the bios reads all correctly but the os reads it wrong.

Are you certain the sticks are 1 gig each, and are you certain your board will support them? Are they double sided or single sided, and does that make a difference for your board? Is this one of those old boards that has DDR and DDR2 slots both, did you take out the old DDR memory?
