Document scan

Hello,
I cannot scan a document from a HP officejet 6110 to a HP Pavillion Slimline PC running Vista.
The units are connected using a new cable, I have set the 6110 as a default unit but I get an error message saying they are not connected. Any suggestions ?

Have you run the HP printer setup software?

What are you using to scan it? Are you trying to scan the document FROM the printer?

You cant just plug it in, you need software and drivers.
