Lost card, not recognised.

I just installed an ATI 5770 graphics card. I needed to move my wireless card down to the #2 PCI slot to make room for it. Now the computer doesnt see it, the wireless card. The 5770 works fine.

MOB: Gigabyte ga-785gmt-ud2h
Wireless card: Linkysis wmp54gs PCI
OS: Win7 Ultimate

I have checked that it is in snug, it is. Used the Hardware finder, doesnt find it. And looked in Device Manager, not seen.

Thoughts?

Hmm, any chance you killed it w/ a static discharge? I would at least put it back and make sure it's still working in the old slot before going any further.

NOTE: Although rare, sometimes PCI/PCIe slots do fail.

Shouldnt be a static problem.

Not looking forward to taking out the 5770, but I guess I'll have to. Any way to test the PCI slot?

Would probably require special equipment. Just bite the bullet and put it back. Yeah, it sucks, but we've all been through the same hassles ourselves, just comes w/ the territory I suppose.

Its working. Dunno why.

Took out the graphics card and put the wireless back in the original slot. It worked. So since it was working I took the time and updated the drivers for the 5770. Then moved it back to the 2nd slot, reinstalled the graphics card. turned it on, and its working. In the 2nd slot. Things like this drive me nuts.

Might have simply been some oxidation on the slot's pins. It's probably been sitting there unused since production and it took inserting and pulling a couple of times to clear it.
