Hello,
i have a green led light on motherboard but no bleeps and no power. tried emptying cmos but no good. i have an asus p4b266. any ideas?

Are you using low latency pc2100 or pc2700 ddr in 256 or 512 mb sticks? If not, you may have a ram issue. Many boards won't post with newer ram in 1gb size. What power supply are you using and what are the rail specs?

The ram is original and worked before the failure. I tested the psu (mercury 300w kob ap4300x )and it supplies power to an onboard fan. Tried also shorting pins from power switch. Taken battery out for 30mins.

Then you may have a bad board. I would check pricewatch or ebay for a similar board. Your board has a via chipset; you can do better. I recommend the Intel 865 chipset for socket 478. Computer geeks is also a good source for older boards.
