I want to buy a Graphics card for my Core 2 Duo (2.4 GHz). I have a budget of less than $150. I can't go beyond that.
Now the problem I'm facing is to choose either GeForce or Radeon HD.
I have few cards in my eye but I would Love to know if thier is a better one.
I don't have a long list of games

Call of Duty
Crysis
Assassin's creed
Battlefield 2
Resident Evil 5
Prototype
.....
I would like to get some suggestions.

Radeon 4870 will give you the best bang for your buck, hands down! You might even find a 4890 for the same price if you shop around... These are head and shoulders above anything Nvidia has to offer at this price point.

Yeah, an HD4870 seems about right, although for $10 more I'd rather have an HD5770.

Yeah, if the difference is only $10 between the HD 4870 and HD 5770, then go for the HD 5770. Either way you are getting the best performance you can afford.
