I have a Nvidia 9750 GTX+ - is there a faster card that would speed up my graphics?

The final performance will depend on the cpu that you have (you haven't write it). Anyway, nowadays the ATI 5770 has an impressive price/performance ratio and the ATI 5850 performs extremely well.
Shaphire and HIS are, in my opinion, very good brands for ATI gpus.
