I currently have my place pre-wired for internet. In my media room I only have one Ethernet outlet in my media room. My objective is to split the signal downstairs with hard wire to my ps3, pc, and xbox 360. I have an extra linksys router sitting around.

Am i able to my pre-wire ethernet cable in my media room to my extra router to split the signal or am I needing another ethernet hub to do this

Thank you

you need to isolate the 2nd router and just connect a computer to it and run>cmd ipconfig /all that will tell your your default gateway(the router) use that ip to login and turn off the dhcp. then you can proceed to conneted it to the rest of your network using it as a switch. note: do not use wan port. good luck.
