Windows Installation "Wizard" never finds anything.

I'm wondering if I'm doing something wrong because every time I plug in anything into my computer, Microsoft's "Wizard" has never been able to find a driver. Not once. I've been very diligent in streamlining services.msc so unneeded programs aren't running in the background so I'm suspecting I might have disabled something that prevents the installation wizard from finding what it needs. Any suggestions?

When you disable things, not much advice can be given.
Put the system back the way it should be, and use Windows Update.

its pretty much because your using XP. Windows 7 has many more built in drivers for newer equipment.
