Dvd drive is ejecting but not detecting windows xp

Hello,
am using LG dvd drive
it is not detecting any cd or dvd
but could eject it by using the option eject on Right click of G drive

Go to Device Manager (in Control Panel ---> Administrative Options ---> Computer Management) and then disable the DVD drive. Restart the computer. Windows will 'find' the drive and install it.

It is also possible that the DVD drive has failed.
