I have a Dell Dimension 9200c with only 275 watt power supply and a slim case. Which card makes the most sense for my machine and why? What's the difference?

These are the two I was thinking might work:

Diamond Radeon HD 3450

Asus Radeon HD 4350

I defnintely need something low profile and PCI e with low power consumption.
I already purchased a Sapphire 4650 w/ 512 DDR2 and my pc wouldn't boot.

Other specs:

4 Gigs of Ram
Windows Vista Ultimate SP2
My current card, ATI 1300/1550x just went belly up.

Let me know if you need more information....

Thank you!

You got a faulty card if an HD4650 wouldn't even boot. Outside of gaming the card uses 10-15 watts. If that's stressing your PSU too much then even normal operations of the CPU and optical/hard drives should be causing problems.

It might be cheaper and put you way ahead to purchase a new power supply instead of another graphics card. Is that an option?

It should not be that difficult to install a new psu.

1. Turn off PSU and disconnect from wall socket.
2. Make a list of all the things connected to the old PSU - maybe 6-8 connections.
For those on the mobo, xerox a copy of the mobo out of your manual and just indicate generally where the connector is.
3. Using a list showing pictures and names of the connectors (should be included with new PSU - if not you can download from most PSU manufacturer sites), just write down what type each one was as you disconnect it.
4. After all are disconnected, unscrew and remove the old psu.
5. Insert and screw the new PSU.
6. Replace connectors as listed and diagrammed.
7. Connect PSU to wall socket and turn on.

Consider this one if the dimensions fit your case:

OCZ ModXStream Pro OCZ500MXSP 500W - $35 after rebate - and free shipping

Also note where the power switch is and try to see if that fits in the same place on the back of the case.

With a new PSU like that one, you could get an even faster GPU later - if so inclined.
