Why do not files not open after boot

I m using windows xp 2006 and my system is dell gx 260 ram is 512 MB ... yesterday i installed this windows but after installation it is not opening most of files like Firefox ,,adobe reader and other ... give me a right salutation..

well the amount of ram you have is not preventing you from running programs like firefox and adobe reader. that is a different issue. but your computer would run faster overall with more ram. what error messages are you receiving?

Firefox itself requires (512mb RAM) - Adobe reader (recommends 512mb RAM), 256mb minimum. What else do you have running, loaded at startup ?

You installed a clean version of windows, did you re-install all of the programs? Are you saying it's not opening the programs or files that those programs open? You need to re-install all of your programs to make anything work.

Oh, and get more RAM. XP on 512 is like trying to stuff a 300lb woman into a size 3 outfit. It may work but won't be pretty.
