Where to put heat probe on stock intel heatsink

where should i put it, my case has one and i would like to ue it, i tried sticking it between the fins wut it dident read what the temp actually was, it only read the air`s temp

btw it has a rounded probe , kinda like a tiny pin head

That prob will really only be good for air temp. If you need the actual temp of the CPU get a program like coretemp.

You would need to install it in a way that it stays in contact with the cooler. Even then your only getting the cooler temp and not the CPU temp. This is still a good early warrning device, if the fan stops the cooler temp should go up.
