Well after all this time of thinking I was having wireless problems. I decided that while I was spiking I would check the wired computers. Well They were also spiking! So I decided to unplug the router and connect the cable modem straight to a computer. Well I was still spiking!!!! After all the time wasted thinking It was the router. But my problem now is, WHAT IS THE PROBLEM? I'm thinking it might be a bad cable modem. But if it is a bad modem then why is it sometimes working good and the spikes are random? I don't think it's comcast because a friend a few streets over is not expierencing the same problem. Could it be the one of my neighbors got comcast and that there is some kind of conflict?
Could be a floating outtage or something wrong with Comcast. If you really feel up to it, call and find out, and if there is an outtage great, and if not feel free to schedule a t/c to see if there is an intermittent signal issue (like water in the box or something). However, be braced for a $50 service fee if there's nothing wrong with Comcast.
Check your coax lines, check filters and splitters and connectors for corrosion, stuff like that. Get higher gauge coax (RG6 instead of RG59, though Comcast installs RG6 there might be some 59 somewhere in the mix). Also try a shorter connection to the box - ie move modem to wherever the cable enters the house and see if it still gets block sync there, and if so see how stable the connection is there.
Intermittent issues are the worst to troubleshoot.
