Accessing external hardrive

Hi All

My motherboard died on my laptop. It was suggested that I remove the hardrive and put it in an external hardrive case to retrieve the data, of which I have since done.

My problem is when I go to access it all I can see is a PQI file of which when I open there is nothin there to read although it says there is data there.

When checking hard drive properties It says its a 3Gb hardrive with 1Gb free, when it is infact a 40Gb hard drive

Can anybody tell me if and how I can access this data?

just start up your system with that harddrive and start pressing f8 button until the black screen appear and having many options like safe mode,reboot,start manually etc.select safe mode and wait when desktop appear from there you will see all of your data.

Thx for your advice Pro unfortunately it did not work thx anyway
